What Prompt Watch does
Prompt Watch helps you understand whether shoppers can discover your Shopify store through AI assistants and AI-powered search experiences. It checks prompts (realistic shopping questions) and shows whether your store appears in results for platforms like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google Gemini.
Prompt Watch is part of your core setup during Onboarding under Setup progress (depending on your plan and selections).
Where to find Prompt Watch
In Shopify admin, go to Apps and open 10xGEO: llms.txt AISEO AEO GEO.
In the app navigation, select Prompt Watch.
What you see in Prompt Watch
Prompts — the questions being tested (for example: “best [product] for [use case]”).
Visibility by platform — whether you appear on each AI platform and your approximate position (for example, Position 1, 2, or 3 when available).
Scores — a simple visibility score so you can compare performance across platforms and track changes over time.
Full AI responses — open the captured response to see exactly how (or if) your store and products are mentioned.
If your store shows up inconsistently across platforms, focus first on the prompts where you’re already close (for example, you appear but not in the top positions). Those are often the fastest wins.
How Prompt Watch works (in plain terms)
10x GEO generates prompts based on your store information and niche (from your Business profile during Onboarding).
Those prompts are checked against each supported AI platform.
The app detects whether your store (or products) is mentioned and estimates your position in the answer.
Results are stored so you can review progress and trends over time.
Prompt Watch is designed to track discovery and citations in AI answers. It’s not a traditional SEO rank tracker, and results can change as AI platforms update how they answer questions.
Using Prompt Watch to improve visibility
Open Prompt Watch and review which prompts show no mention versus mentioned. Use this as your baseline before you make changes to your content.
Look for differences across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google Gemini. If you appear on one platform but not another, your next best step is usually improving your store’s content depth and clarity (not changing the prompt).
Use the Full AI responses view to understand why you were mentioned (or missed). Pay attention to which pages, product types, or competitors are referenced.
Use Prompt Watch insights alongside Content Plan and Content Sonic to create content that answers the same types of questions shoppers ask.
Common reasons you don’t appear (and what to do)
If AI platforms can’t reliably understand your store and key pages, your visibility can drop.
Confirm your file is available at
/.well-known/llms.txt.In 10x GEO, check Dashboard for any LLMs.txt generated/synced status (when available).

AI answers favor clear, detailed product and collection information.
Strengthen product descriptions (who it’s for, key specs, comparisons, and real use cases).
Create supporting blog content that matches high-intent shopping questions using Content Plan and Content Sonic.
Some prompts (like “best [product]”) are extremely competitive and may be dominated by large brands or marketplaces.
Expand into more specific prompts (by use case, location, material, audience, or problem-to-solve).
Build a cluster of content around a niche where your store is uniquely credible.
If your store focus changed (new product line, new regions served, repositioning), update your Business profile so Prompt Watch topics stay relevant.
Visibility results can shift over time even if you don’t change anything—AI platforms frequently update how they source and summarize information. Use Prompt Watch trends, not single-day results, to judge progress.
