Visibility

What “visibility” means

Visibility in 10x GEO (10xGEO: llms.txt AISEO AEO GEO) means how often—and how prominently—your store appears when shoppers ask AI assistants (like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google Gemini) for product recommendations.

10x GEO tracks visibility through Prompt Watch, where you can see whether your store is mentioned, how high you rank, and how your performance changes over time.

What we measure in Prompt Watch

  • Mention status — whether your store (or products/pages) appear in the AI’s answer and/or citations.

  • Position — where you appear in the results (for example: 1st, 2nd, 3rd). Higher positions generally mean better visibility.

  • Scores — a simplified visibility score so you can compare prompts and platforms and track trends over time.

Prompt Watch uses realistic “shopping-style” prompts (for example: best [product] for [use case]) to simulate how customers discover brands through AI.

Where you’ll see visibility in the app

Prompt Watch

Prompt Watch is the primary place to view visibility. Each prompt shows results by AI platform (such as ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google Gemini), including mention status, position, and saved answers/snippets when available.

Dashboard

Use Dashboard to spot high-level signals and setup status that can affect visibility—especially whether your LLMs.txt is generated and synced (when available).

Analytics

Analytics helps you connect visibility work to real outcomes by showing AI-driven traffic and what pages shoppers land on (when Analytics is included in your plan).

How often visibility checks run

Visibility checks in Prompt Watch run on a schedule. The exact frequency can depend on your plan and current system capacity.

If your plan includes it, Prompt Watch may also allow you to refresh or re-check certain prompts from within the Prompt Watch experience.

What affects visibility

  • LLMs.txt quality and freshness — If your LLMs.txt is missing, incorrect, or out of date, AI systems have less reliable store context to reference. 10x GEO publishes your file at /.well-known/llms.txt.

  • Your product and site content — Clear product titles, detailed descriptions, and helpful articles make it easier for AI systems to recommend you.

  • Competition and prompt breadth — Broad, high-competition prompts are harder to win. More specific (long-tail) prompts often improve your chances.

  • Platform differences — Each AI platform behaves differently, so visibility can vary across ChatGPT vs Claude vs Perplexity vs Google Gemini.

Improve your visibility (practical workflow)

Open Dashboard and check your LLMs.txt status (when shown). Your store’s file should be accessible at /.well-known/llms.txt.

Open Prompt Watch and identify prompts where your store is not mentioned, then compare them with prompts where you rank well.

Use Content Plan to choose topics based on shopper intent, then use Content Sonic to generate drafts you can publish to your Shopify blog.

After publishing updates, check Analytics (if included in your plan) to see which AI platforms send traffic and which pages they land on.

Start by improving prompts where you’re already close (for example, you’re mentioned but ranked low). Small content and product-page improvements often move position faster than targeting brand-new, broad prompts.

If your scores are low

First, verify LLMs.txt is present and current. Then improve the on-site content that best answers the prompt (product pages, collection pages, and supporting blog posts). Finally, re-check performance in Prompt Watch after changes have been published.

Focus on making your key pages more “AI-friendly”: clearer product naming, stronger differentiation, FAQs, and content that answers the prompt directly. Track position changes over time in Prompt Watch.

This is normal. Use Prompt Watch’s per-platform results to decide where to focus first, then validate outcomes with Analytics when available.
